87 vw jetta

I have a 87 vw jetta with a 1.8 8v motor. The motor runs but acts like a cylinder is not firing..this causing the motor to run rough. Could a bad injector or something in the injectors fuel line cause this problem? If not what can I do to help narrow the possible problems down?

Check the suspected cylinder -sparkplug, compression and injector-Use gloves start it up and start removing the wires from the cylinders one by one -the one that don't react when you remove the wire is the problem cylinder
