I have a 1987 Toyota Supra and i was driving home one day and i just suddenly heard this thud over and over. Then i pulled in the driveway and it died, i went to go start it and i had to push the gas in order to keep it on. Do i need to get a new head gasket or new engine?

A "thud" can mean a whole lot of different things and we certainly can't diagnose sounds over the computer. Before assuming it's something serious, have someone listen to it. That person will look for other clues and observations that will help with the diagnosis.
