My 87 2.8L 5 speed refuses to idle down to around 800 rpm. A common problem is a vacuum leak between the egr valve and the intake plenum. I capped off that pipe from the egr valve to no avail. Any suggestions where to go next. Other than this idle problem it runs almost like new. Tach indication is from about 2000 to 900 rpm after warm up

check for a vacuum leak and see if egr valve is clean, it may be partiallly oopen. also check fuel pressure 41-47 psi.
