Backfiring and replace most parts

I have a 87 olds Calais - engine light came on, I put tester on the car and replaced EGR valve,O2 senser, MAF,plug wires,new plugs.Car still idea's ruff and backfires in back muffler (many short backfiles). I didn't replace the senser that is contected to ERG. Any help would be great

first of all, what were the codes. i doubt all those parts failed at the same time.
if you have the old style coil pack that is 3 coils in one, it is called a magnavox system. it is common for this to overheat and cause this issue. you must replace the coil pack and module as an assembly.
