I have an 1987 Olds 98 regency sedan. The passenger side door handles (outside) no longer open the door. Driver side handles work fine, no problem. I went to a salvage yard and found similar cars (olds) that had same problem. Is this something I can repair, the old car needs paint but runs like a scalded cat and has soft ride and cold air. Too good to give away on a trade on a new one. Thanks

Yes, you can repair it. You need to remove the inner door panel to first identify what the problem is. It could be a broken latch or simply the linkage may have come disconnected. Once you are certain what caused the problem, repair. If the handle needs replaced, it is held in by a couple screws. The linkage is clipped into place.
