I have a 87 Nissan Stanza 4-wheel drive wagon. I have been putting a lot of love into this car. I have a coulple of problems that have stumpped me. I have a heater problem. I have heat if my car warms up for 10 min. but when I start driving my heat gets cold. It never puts out hot air just warm air. Also I have a sputtering, stalling moition after i drive the car for severl hours. It starts to have trouble taking off. Would this have any thing to do with the catalytic converter?

The heater problem could be due to insufficient coolant in system or the thermostat is not closing properly. Have it checked and replaced if necessary.

As to the sputtering after warming up, if the idling speed is too low, it would tend to want to stall. It should not be associated with the catalytic converter but more likely a misfiring and it could be due to a failing ignition coil or spark plugs.
