1987 Mercury Marquis Changing Out Headlight Switch Because Experiencing Problems

I was changing out my headlight switch because I was experiencing problems with my lights coming on when I would pull the switch on. I then noticed when I pulled out the connector one of the plug wholes was burnt and blackend. Does that mean I have to change out the connector now too?

It did short out on something. It would be best to replace it as it is likely that insulation has been damaged. You can go to a local auto store and get a new connector and they are easy to sauder in.
