I'm trying to locate the Engine Control Module on a 1987 Mercedes Benz E-Class 300. The car starts when cold then dies when it gets hotter. Sometimes there is a ticking sound as if it is the relay but we've been advised that it could be the ECM, which so far sounds like the correct choice or repair.

Under the kick panel or under the dash?
I tried taking a peek under the kick panel before I remove it but I only see wires running through it to another location under the chair. Unless they're being routed through the ECM to another location and I cannot be sure of that until I remove the kick panel. Any quick idea on how to remove the kick panel? also. Thank you very much for your help.

I looked it up and that is where it is to be. The kick panel is where your foot would rest against the side of the floor.
