my 1987 mazda b2200 gets fire and gas but want crank sounds like it has lost compression when i crank it

its gettin gas and fire it sounds like its not gettin compression when it turns over i can pull it off and it will crank but it want crank by the key

You have to hotwire the starter solenoid to get it to crank? when you pull what off it cranks?
