new clutch, flywheel and starter have been installed on a jeep wrangler. there is a loud scraping noise coming from the bell housing when i start it up. i suspect the starter is not disengaging because that's what it sounds like and there are no vibrations with it. any other possible ideas what could be causing this?

Does the sound stop after you release the key?

Have you tried another starter?

Starter shims?

Stupid things happen, so do not be ASTONISHED, if you wind up with something really stupid!.........Like a wrench left in it!
