my transmission reverse has gone out and the transmission is now making a knocking sound but it still drives strong in drive. what could be wrong.

I feel that there has been a mechanical failure inside the transmission, i feel that driving will do more damage, get it checked out by a trans specialist before you blow the trans completely.
