I have 1987 Dodge B-150 RAM Van (full size) I would like to know what the voltage should be at the field wires of the alternator key on, engine off. 5.2l v-8 2bbl carb Cali smog. I am bypassing the ECM due to unknown problem with it. Do NOT wish to replace the ECM, it is worth more than the van is.

The Voltage regulator inside the Engine Computer gives extremely little trouble.

One of the field terminals must have full battery voltage with the ignition switch in the "run" position. The other one must have less but not 0 volts.
