Does anyone know where I could get my hands on a wiring schematics for my 86 Toyota 4-runner?

The best resource for this is the manufacturer's service manual. You'll find them on eBay. You can also go to the top of this page, point to "Repair and Service", then click on "Manuals" to go to a web site where you can buy a subscription for your model. That will include the manufacturer's information, plus recalls, service bulletins, common fixes, and additional information. That is Mitchell ProDemand and is the one I use. Another online service is AllData. Independent repair shops pay thousands of dollars per year for access to these sites. You only have to pay a small amount for your year and model.
