when i turn my cruise control it excelerater to top speed & i have to push brakr pedal to disengage it.???

my 86 porsche 944 cruise control goes to hi speed when turned on & stays on hi until i turn it off ????

THis could be the result of a bad speed sensor or other electrical component. I would recommend having the computer scanned to identify if there is a trouble code stored. IT sounds very dangerous.
