1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera mileage: 120,000. One of my belts would squeak when I turned on my air conditioning so I put some WD-40 on the belt until I didn't here the squeak anymore. I drove it around a little and it worked, no more squeaking. But when I started it a few hours later, it started squeaking even without the air conditioning on! Did I some how make the problem worse? And if so what can I do to fix it?

Spraying WD-40 is only a short temporary fix that is not recommended. It dries the belt out even worse than before. Once a belt starts squeaking, the only remedy is to replace it.
