1986 Mercury Sable Steering column

How do I take the steering column off my car? The ignition switch is stuck and locked, and I think I need to replace the tumblers. Is there a diagram or?

As the key switch been giving you trouble? Make sure the selector level with all the way up and park, in other words hold it up while playing with the key and make sure that the steering wheel isn't turned in a way that it is putting pressure on the key cylinder, in other words turn the wheel one way or the other while you are trying to turn the key.
