all lights inside and car is on but it wont go into drive

It was running fine,then it started hesitating until it died.then when I cranked it over my dash board lit up and car was on but it wouldn't shift to drive.

Check trans oil level, check that it is not burnt, ensure that the transmission is actually selecting drive, if this is all ok, you will need to get the line pressures tested as it may be a torque converter problem, hydraulic pump or governor acting up. This will have to be checked by a transmission specialist as special tooling is required.
