1986 Jeep Comanche Custom 4-Cylinder, 2.5 Liter, 4-WD, Gas. Why the Fuel Gauge stays put FULL even when I know its not (gauge never move)? I have a Chilton's Book Pat No. 8143 and can't find or figure out where the fuel sensor is. Does it have a Fuel Sensor or is it the TBI FUEL PUMP inside the fuel tank operates the Fuel Gauge?

I'D SAY THE SENDER IS IN THE TANK

NORMALLY A PINK WIRE SNAPS OVER A STUD ON TOP OF THE TANK ------(THIS IS A GUESS FOR YOURS--I COULD BE WRONG)

IF YOU TAKE THE WIRE OFF OF THE STUD---THE GAUGE SHOULD DROP (WITH THE KEY ON)

IF IT DOES DROP---YOUR SENDER IS BAD IN THE TANK

IF IT DOES NOT DROP----THE GAUGE IS BAD----OR----THE PINK? WIRE IS GROUNDED (INSULATION RUBBED THRU) SOMEWHERE BETWEEN THE TANK AND THE GAUGE

IF I'M WRONG ABOUT THE COLOR---LET ME KNOW---I'LL TRY TO FIND A WIRE DIAGRAM FOR YOU

YOUR TURN
