Knocking Noise

I have a 1986 Honda Accord 4 dr, Automatic.
There is a knocking sound that seems to be coming
from under the dash on the drivers side or
possibly down by the pedals. It happens when
driving, idleing and with the engine off but the key in the on position. When I say knocking, I
mean a clanking metal on metal sound.
Please Help!

For noise problems, unless you are able to tell us the source of the noise, we would not be able to provide you any answers.

Since the noise is present when ignition is turned on, it should be easy to locate the source.
