1986 Dodge Aries Cars Left Right Turn Signal Shifter Fell Out Place Came Loose

my cars left and right turn signal shifter fell out of its place and came loose awhile ago but after putting it back I can turn my bright lights on and off again but the left and right turn signals still won't work. any suggestions for how to fix this??

What is the symptom? "Doesn't work" can mean a lot of different things.
