Your best bet is to find a pick-your-own-parts salvage yard. If you're between Ohio and southern Georgia, do a search for "Pull-A-Part". I've been to 16 of their 23 yards. All are very clean and well-organized. Employees and customers are very friendly and parts are real inexpensive. You pay your buck, throw your tool box in one of their wheel barrows, and you can spend all day there. You can search for vehicles like yours on their web site.

Normally nothing is different with a conversion van. If the gas tank straps needed to be modified they would have been made by the conversion company and you can make them too. You can grind notches and drill holes in metal straps, and bend them by hand to match the old ones.

A mobile home outlet should have hurricane straps. That should work. Your local lumber yard should have metal bands/straps about two inches wide. If you were worried about stensil strength of the strap, you could double or triple the number of straps on each side. As far as safety, you have to use your own judgement. You dont want the gas tank falling off going down the road.

I type with four smoking fingers; sometimes two of 'em at the same time. Then it's just a matter of proof-reading and inserting the missing "T"s and spaces. (Some fingers don't work real well)!
