1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Just Replaced Transmission Car Into Gear Moving

I just replaced my Transmission in my car and it is not going into. Gear and no moving or turning over and I have tried to figure out every thing that would make it not move can you please help me and I replaced the kick down cable

Is it the same type / year / model of transmission that came in the car? Is the fluid full? Did you check the shifter linkage? Is the torque converter bolted to the flywheel?
