Why does my engine start and then shut off right away?

This only happens occasionally. Sometimes engine starts and runs fine. Sometimes engine starts and then will die while driving. Sometimes engine starts and then shuts off right away.

I would recommend checking for a few things. First, if it dies at idle, check for simple vacuum leaks. If it does it at highway speeds, check the fuel pump pressure. Actually, the fuel pump pressure could affect the stalling at start up too.
