engine knocks

have 86 camare z28..400 small block,carburatored..more throttleyou give it the louder the knock gets..also smell gas in oil..

The logical thing to do would be to change the oil before you ruin the engine. Then try to figure out where the gas in the oil is coming from. It could be a stuck open injector or shorted injector signal for some reason.
