noise from engine

There is a Clanking noice coming from the center of the engine. The car has never had any oil or fluid leaks. Also the transmition has been slipping. The noice started this morning and while driving the car completely dead and wouldn't start even with a jump. After acouple hours I tried again to start it and it spuddered hard then started after pumping the gas.

Have the transmission checked and also try cleaning out the idle air control valve and do a fuel pressure check-
