1985 Toyota Pickup Replaced 22r Engine 22re Left Distributor On That Came New

i replaced my 1985 toyota 22r engine with a 22re. I left distributor on that came with new moter. it ran great for about ten miles now barely will start. my question is this. is it possable that my coil & igniter are not compatable with internal componants of new distributor, causing an eratic spark

Anything is possible. When you change things, something always seems to go wrong. Have you checked spark? Are you getting a good hot blue snapping spark?
