1985 Toyota Pickup Detroit Locker 4 88 Gears Both Axles Rear Axle Lately Been

I have a detroit locker with 4.88 gears in both axles . the rear axle lately has been slamming and banging extreemly hard lately. could the pinion gear be jumping teeth on the ring gear ?

doubt it. it would lock the truck up. open the case and inspect the spider gears.
