fuel pump

why does the fuel leak back from the pump to the tank does this carby have a replacement kit[diaphram & valve] like the old fuel pumps in that age bracket. how are thry inserted & how is the fuel pump opened when taken off the engine

why not replace with cheaper easy mount electric pump from auto store my brother did that for like $30.

Such mechanical pumps are non repairable. As fixitmr recommends, get an electrical pump but ensure it is for carburetted engines as there are those availble for injections which have excessive pressure for the carb.
