Noises problem
1985 Pontiac Firebird 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic N/A miles

I just put a new transmission in my vehicle. I start my car and I hear a loud knocking sound that gets louder when pressing the accelerator. Engine runs fine while idling at cool temp but when heats up the enigine startys smoking then dies and won't start again til its cooled off. What could be causing this and how easy is it to fix? Trying to save money by doing the repairs myself.

you have a blown engine. the knocking sound is a blown piston. you have to replace the whole engine which isn't that easy if you don't know what your doing
