what causes the engine to go wwuuhhaaa and not accelerate.

too tall of a gear, like starting out in 3rd. or not enough fuel or not enough ignition advance. fuel could be MAP sensor or fuel restriction/weak pump. the ignition timing is the distributor position and internal centrifical mechanism.
