Steering column very very loose. I can hold steering wheel straight and move steering wheel up and down side to side and steering column moves with it. I went to start car and when I turned the key it just kept turning all the way around and I cant shift. I think the ignition isnt unlocking for me to move gear shift. I was told maybe the pin slipped in ignition? How do I tell if its the pin or something else and how do I fix it or replace it? How do I repair loose column. Can it just be tightened up? If so how?

The column pivots on two large soft metal pins, one on each side. You need a special tool to pull them out. It has a tapered threaded shaft that threads into a hole in the center of the pin, then you tighten a nut to pull the pin out.
