My car will only go in first gear and reverse but it will not shift gears. What do you think the problem is?

it cold be a cople of things, i'd check the govenor first as the plastic gear strips and won't turn it any longer.If you have a vacuum modulator the hosemayhave a hole in it or soft or the modulater may be bad. It could be a broken throttle cable if you have a THM 200 init as well.
