My friend paid a home mechanic to replace his fuel pump. Now the car will only start with the gas tank dropped. Ive checked for kinked lines and found none any ideas?

I would be contacting the mechanic and getting him to re check his work, he must correct any fault he has created.

Ya but hes an idiot and I think hes done enough. On top of that after he screwed it up he said he was done and not gonna mess with it anymore. But after I get the car running I will probably go run it straight up his #%*!

Ok, get the picture, I think that the pump may be installed incorrectly, you may have to remove it and start again.

Got the tank off and the fuel pump seems to be sitting in there right tho it looks like he put his own tank straps on u think the problem could be how the tank is sitting under the car (like how level it is)?

I will try and find a pic of the instalation and post it, check that the pick up is ok and did they fit a new filter as this is important with a new pump.
