Had trans rebuilt 1998 only about 30,000 miles on it before I pull the engine I removed the radiator and transmissiom cooler, when I put everthing back and filled the trans. The truck sat for about two to three years. I think I put about 5 qts of fluid . Know movement I added one qt wheels started to turn, while I was doing this Ii had the back wheels on stands, when the back wheel were turning I then put the truck on flat ground.I check level very low reading added more fluid went through the gears still very low level added more another qt. Still low. Now after 2-3 hours did not start engine 1in. Above full, started engine now its just half in. On dip stick. Could I have an air pocket inside cooler, line, trans. Etc. During my last letter I had erratic timing did air leak test only 7lbs per cylinder 100lbs drop to 93lbs. Truck has 21-22 vac. Still erratic

The cooler cold be leaking inside the radiator and putting coolant in trans. DRive the thing and get it hot/warm about 20 miles or so on eway assuming it still drives and shifts ok. Then check and see what you have. Don't bother checking trans with engine off it will always read wrong.

It so be hot when read not cold. If the cooler on the outside is the only hookup for cooling trans then I'd say it's not full enough. Your shuttle valve is for shifting purposes and not for much else I doubt very much it has air in system. If the cooling lines still are connected to rad it could have put coolant in trans causing the errant reading. Also is it the correct dipstick and tube? Get it hot and take a reading if it is overfull you can always drain some out.
