Hi,
The truck has an electric choke control. Have you checked to see if it is opening the choke when it is running? If it is opening, you may have dirt preventing the needle valve in the carb from turning off the fuel and basically flooding the engine.
I attached a pic of the float and measurements as well. You could an issue with this. The attached pic correlates with the directions.

Invert main body so the weight of the floats only is forcing the needle against the seat. Hold finger against hinge pin retainer to fully seat in the float hinge cradle. Using a suitable scale, Fig. 3, measure distance between the float bowl surface and the toe of each float. To adjust, bend the float tang. If necessary, bend either float arm to equalize individual float positions.

If possible, record what the engine is doing so I can hear it. Also, take the plastic side of a screw driver and tap on the carb. Sometimes that will dislodge dirt that could be causing the needle valve from closing.
One last thought. You said the smoke is white. Most times a rich fuel mixture creates black or dark grey smoke. Check to make sure the coolant level isn't down which could indicate a head gasket issue. Coolant burns white and puts off a unique sweet smell. Here is a link that explains how to check different things for possible head gasket issues:

Also, confirm there are no engine vacuum leaks.

Let me know what you find.
