I am changing engines and I noticed my torque converter is very loose in the pump. How much play is normal? It seems to me the bushings in pump and stator are bad. Trans only has 16000miles since overhaul. And it IS seated all the way in the pump. Can that much play in bushings cause a vibration?

It's probably not seated all the way. Once it is fully seated and bolted to the flywheel, it isn't going to move.
