1985 corvette transmission troubleshooting

Car had transmission rebuilt 8/2010 sat for a year I bought from owner i just got engine running right now the transmission slips when u 1st start car it kinda rolls but still slips after 500 yards it doesn't have 1,2,3,or reverse. all vacuum is fine has new valve body, friction plates, but the owner told me he didn't replace torque converter. I have another trans for it but I do not want to switch them if not necessary

Get the transmission pressure tested-sounds like its slipping bad-How's the transmission fluid level and condition?
