1985 Chevrolet Corvette Hi C4 Turn On Car Night Dashboard Lights

Hi: I have a 1985 C4. Problem: When I turn on the car at night, the dashboard lights are bright (switch all the way to the left) for one or two seconds then they go dim. During the day they seem bright, but at night they are dim. Please advise. Thank You, Lance

normally if you turn the switch all the way to left that dimms the dsash lights or will turn on the interior lights if turned far enough turning all the way to right brightens lights.

obviously I have done this. All of my old cars operate like this. Is it the switch?

well i don't know how well you are acquainted with cars. i would say it's the switch but hate to tell you then it's bad, if you had a test light o r volt meter you cold test it to make sure.
