Engine will start and idle but when the gas pedal is pressed it dies?

The engine will start and thier is fuel coming out of the injector to the manifold and when the gas pedal is pressed the engine will stall and die.
Have tried to get the code for the problem with a jumper and just keep getting number of blinks that is 12.

Use a gage and check fuel pressure. What is litre size of engine? Some of the national brand autostores used to loan out a fuel pressure gage. You may have to put up a deposit, but, you get it back.

How long since a tune-up?

The engine has not had a tune up since I got the car. I looked at one of the plugs ( when I took it out) it look bit blackined at the spark. The litre size of the engine is 2.4L 4 cylinder. What should the pressure be at and where to check on the fuel line?

If you have TBI, the pressure is around 10 psi. You would have to tee the gage into the fuel supply line.

If the pressure is above 10psi or lower, how can I fix the problem and if it not that what could the problem be?

A fuel pressure test is part of a tune-up. I'd do that first.
