Clutch Wont Go into Gear?

Replaced clutch on 85 BMW 535i but now it will not go into gear unless vehicle is off. is there something i obviously put in wrong or does the slave just need to be bleed? i did not disconnect slave from hose to allow for air to get into system.

Is it making a grinding noise every time you attempt to put it in gear while engine is idling? Try bleeding the system
