Could be a broken driveshaft bearing (CV joint).
Could also be a transmission problem. But I would check the 4 cv joints first (two per side).
Any history with the van? Sitting for some time? Was it OK the day before?

Sounds like you have a bad input shaft bearing or even a broken shaft. The torque converter could be shot as well or the pump has lost pressure.
In any case you are looking at a full rebuild. Just so you know, go to a repair facility that is a TRANSMISSION SHOP. Do not go to a standard garage. Also, AAmco is overpriced and you can get a quality shop near you by using the search engine on this site.
