Mercedes 280 sl - euro model - problem with a louse rattle in the rear (like something is rattling/rocking around) on every bump etc. Even road is no problem. Sounds like something is loose and rattling loudly but the local mechanics said it may be a sway bar. I have already put in a new catalytic converter which did indeed give me more get up and go but the rattle is still there. Any ideas?

Often it can be a collapsed baffle in the rear muffler, give it a thump with your fist see if it rattles, otherwise it will probably be a worn suspension bush, it will have to be on a hoist to check this fully.
