I need to know if I can change an air ride to shocks

I have a ''84 lincoln continental and the air bags are gone for good and cost too much to repleace...Im wanting to know if my car is made for shocks. If so I need to know if there is a book or something that has the size of shocks I need.

I have seen them replaced with taurus rear struts but you will have to search the net to find out the mod required.
