What would cause the Jeep to veer into traffic?

We just took our jeep in to have new u-joints added and new (used)hub. When shop owner saw the vehicle he said he legally could not let us take the jeep home because the steering rod was about to go out. Once we got the vehicle back, the jeep would veer to the sidse and it was hard to control. It does this more if there is bump in the road or even just the slightest curve. This is quite dangerous and deadly for us and any vehicle that we may be next to. We have came into so many close accidents now, am I afraid to ride in it. We have taken in back now four times, he keeps replacing the steering boxes and adjusting them, but we still have the same issue. (Which we did not have prior to going to his shop.) And we have done an alignment and had wheels rotated and balanced.

What all did he replace? Also, there is a tech we call CJ, I hope he reads this and jumps in. Let us know what has been replaced so far. Also, are the correct size tires on the vehicle? A little more info will help.

HOW SUSPENSION AND LIFT MODIFIED ARE WE? TIRES?

WHAT WAS SAID ABOUT "CASTER", WHEN IT WAS ALIGNED.I TAKE MINE TO A SHOP THAT DOES BIG TRUCKS, AND ARE VERY FAMILIAR WITH "STRAIGHT FRONT AXLES"

AS FAR AS ADJUSTING YOUR STEERING GEAR.

POWER OR MANUAL?

THE ADJUSTMENT ON TOP (ALLEN WRENCH AND NUT) IS FOR INITIAL INSTALLATION ADJUSTMENT ONLY!

EVER SEEN 1ST GEAR ON A 10 SPEED BIKE REALLY WORN OUT? IT'S 'CAUSE 1ST GEAR IS USED THE MOST.

ON YOUR STEERING GEAR, THE CENTER PARTS (INSIDE), THE STEER LEFT, STEER RIGHT WHILE GOING STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD PORTION, IS BEING USED "THE MOST", IS WHAT WEARS. THE REST OF IT GENERALLY, REMAINS WITH LITTLE WEAR (INSIDE)

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ADJUST THE "SLOP" OUT OF THE MIDDLE, YOU ALSO AT THE SAME TIME, CREATE A BIND ON THE UN-WORN PORTION (IF YOU WILL)

WHAT HAPPENS, IF WHILE DRIVING, OR IF YOU JACK UP THE FRONT END YOU CAN FEEL IT. YOU WILL FEEL POPPING OR GRABBING AS YOU TURN THE WHEEL----THIS AIN'T GOOD! AS YOU PROBABLY ALREADY KNOW!

SEVERAL PLACES FOR SLOP IN YOUR STEERING, ALL WORKING TOGETHER, MAJOR SLOP!

1ST YOU HAVE HAD CHECKED, TIE RODS AND SUCH?

THEN YOU HAVE THE STEERING SHAFT, UNDER THE HOOD, HAS A "CRAPPY U-JOINT IN IT". THEY MAKE NICER H/D ONES NOW

NEARER THE STEERING GEAR, THERE IS A RUBBER BOOT, OR USED TO BE ONE, IT COVERS A "SLIDING" JOINT, IT CAN WEAR, OR BE RE-INSTALLED WRONG, IF JERKED APART WHILE INSTALLING THE STEERING GEAR

THEN YOU HAVE THE GEAR ITSELF. WAS IT "WOUND"----TOTAL TRAVEL TURNS COUNTED, DIVIDED IN HALF, AND CENTERED WHEN INSTALLED?

MAYBE A LOOSE PITMAN ARM?

THEN YOU HAVE FRAME TWISTING (MEGA SLOP FOR THE SYSTEM!) WHEELS ON THE GROUND, HAVE YOUR HELPER SORTA TURN THE STEERING WHEEL 1/2 A TURN RIGHT AND 1/2 A TURN LEFT (SORTA STRESSING THE WHEELS). SLOWLY OVER AND OVER. STAND OUT FRONT AND WATCH THE STEERING GEAR, IT SHOULD NOT MOVE LEFT OT RIGHT, ONLY THE PITMAN ARM. IF IT DOES, IT NEEDS A BRACE!

GONNA SEND YOU A MESSAGE--LEAVE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IN MY MESSAGE (NOT HERE FOR THE WORLD TO SEE.I WILL SEND YOU A WALMART ALBUM OF MY NEW GEAR AND HOMEMADE BRACE. NOT MUCH EXPLAINING IN THAT ALBUM, OTHERS I HAVE MADE FOR OTHER STUFF ARE BETTER.I'LL SEND YOU 2 FOR STARTERS!

TO GET TO MESSAGES, CLICK ON YOUR USER NAME, AND LOOK AROUND, TILL YOU FIND IT!
