1984 Holden Commodore ignition coil exploded

My ignition coil exploded due to leaving the ignition on for too long, and I'm wondering if I'll have to change my dizzy now because of it? It's a points dizzy not electronic.

I'D SAY MR. COIL'S EXPLODING DID NOT AFFECT THE DISTRIBUTOR

HOWEVER, I'D SAY THE COIL MIGHT HAVE HAD NO ISSUES IF THE DISTRIBUTOR STOPPED WITH THE POINTS "OPEN"

SO, THE MORAL OF MY SUPER STUPID STORY IS:

IF THERE IS NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO THE DISTRIBUTOR - IT'S PROBABLY OKAY

I WOULD INSPECT THE POINTS TO SEE IF THEY ARE BURNT

LET US KNOW WHAT YOU FIGGER OUT

GLAD YOU GOT IT FIXED!

I DID TRY TO RESEARCH A "PERTRONIX" IGNITION SYSTEM FOR YOUR CAR, I COULD NOT FIND IT (MIGHT JUST BE ME)

I INSTALLED ONE ON MY 1946 WILLYS JEEP, IT RUNS SO MUCH BETTER THAN WITH THE POINTS (I CAN GO BACK TO POINTS IN ABOUT TEN MINUTES TIME, IF NEED BE)

I'LL INCLUDE A SHOT OR TWO OF THE ONE MADE FOR MY DISTRIBUTOR, IT'S REALLY SIMPLE ELECTRONIC IGNITION, WITH ONLY 2 WIRES RUNNING TO THE COIL
