1984 GMC Suburban suburban transmission!

i have 84 suburban(2W) with 94 goodwrench engine(350) with no any transmission on it.
what is the best transmission for this car?
a mechanic told me not mount 400 tr because it not suitable for this engine, the best is 350.
does he right?
can you guide me!

350 is good if you are pulling a lot of weight around then you can go to a 400 as they are a lot stronger trans. 350 is okay fortrailer pulling as well aslong as it's not everyday and loaded to the gills.
