I want to remove the catalytic converter from my V8 5.7 liter, 4 barrel, 1984 Chevy G30 Van. Can anyone please assist me in doing this properly? And does it enhance fuel efficiency and/or power? Thanks Mike

Just cut it out where the Cat flanges are-and weld a test pipe on it or use a flexible pipe-as for power that's if the cat is clogged, the engine breaths better

Hey thanks so much. So when you cut it out, are there vacuum lines to be concerned with? Or any other links to diagrams of what to cut out? I've done alot of engine repair but never a catalytic cut out. And flex pipe connect directly to intake of pipe going into cat and into pipe going out? Thanks again.

There's no vacuum concerns here-just make sure you seal it properly to prevent exhaust leak
