PROBABLY A DIRTY TAPPET, NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. THEY SHOULD CLOSE OR SEAL AFTER DIPPING INTO THE PRESSURIZED OIL GALLEY (THAT'S WHERE WEAR AND SLACK IS COMPENSATED FOR) AS THEY RISE BACK UP TO PUSH THE ROCKER ARM (TO OPEN THE VALVE) THEY SHOULD CLOSE. NO SLOP. THIS IS SORTA LIKE A HYDRAULIC JACK, AS IT PUSHES UP, THEN OIL PRESSURE UNLOCKS IT, TAKES UP SLACK, WHEN IT GOES DOWN
SMALL LITTLE DISCS ARE WHAT LOCK THE LIFTER WHEN IT'S FULL OF OIL
IF THERE IS EVEN A BURNT FILM OR OTHER STUFF UNDER THE DISCS. THE "HYDRAULIC JACK" MAY NOT FULLY LOCK. SLACK IS PRESENT. CLATTER--RATTLE RATTLE!
. EZist WAY TO TRY TO FIX THIS ISSUE IS, NEXT OIL CHANGE SUBSTITUTE 1 QT OF MARVEL MYSTERY OIL, FOR A NORMAL QT OF OIL YOU WOULD NORMALLY PUT IN (NOT ADD A QT, AND BE OVERFILLED!)
AS YOU ARE DRIVING, MMM, MAY CLEAN IT UP, THE TAPPET, IS AGAIN, ABLE TO PROPERLY SEAL
THIS CAN BE LEFT IN, UNTIL NEXT CHANGE. READ THE BOTTLE!
THIS IS USUALLY NOT AN INSTANT CURE---IT TAKES A LITTLE TIME TO DISSOLVE
GOT YOU A PIC OF A TYPICAL TAPPET
RETURN TO THIS POST AND LET ME KNOW HOW IT'S GOING
