Is there a way to reset the O2 sensor with out replacing it?

My O2 sensor light is on and I tried to get a smog and it failed and it's obvious why but there are a few electrical issues with the car and I'm just not sure if the sensor is really damaged or not. I wanted to see if I could reset it to really check if it was broken before I have to replace it. I found the info on how to test the sensor but would there be anything else that would make that light go on? I'm guessing that I should just replace the sensor. But I had a mechanic friend of mine suggest just try to reset it. What should I do?

Re setting does nothing for the problem. You need to have it tested to verify that is bad. It could be something else that is causing the o2 sensor to read wrong.

Once again, get it checked. Re setting does nothing to fix the problem.
