I tap the brake pedal and nothing happens not even a flicker.
I have to take off the battery cable to turn it them off and not drain my battery, How can I fix it cannot afford to take it in right now.
How do I fix it and the steps if possible?

the pedal switch may have gotten out of adjustment. check it for proper contact with pedal. you can also pull plug off switch to see if that turns out lights.

Check to make sure the rubber pad that the switch lands against hasn't fallen off. That is common.
